Roanoke River (Weldon) Striper Trips (Striped Bass)
Haulin’ Bass Guide (Captain Ponytail) Service offers fishing charters on the Roanoke River out of Weldon NC from April 15th through May 15th.
Every year in the spring, we take a break from our normal Largemouth Bass trips and head to Weldon, NC (The Rockfish Capital of the World) for the annual spring Striped Bass Spawn. This area is well known for World Class Striper Fishing.
The upper Roanoke has so much to offer anglers of all skill levels, from bottom rigging live bait, to surface and subsurface artificial lures, to the experienced Fly Fishers. You can do it all! April is the “Keeper Season” which closes on the 30th. Anglers are allowed to keep 2 fish per person as long as they meet the requirements listed by the NCDENR. (18” to 22” and one of the keepers can be over 27”). Please bring your own cooler if you plan to take home your catch of the day. Starting May 1st, it becomes all CPR (Catch, Photograph and Release) and can be some of the most productive fishing days you will ever experience.
(We have had 100 fish days during this time of year!!)
We meet at the boat ramp in Weldon, NC (1090 Rockfish Ln. Weldon NC 27890), About an hour and a half north of Raleigh along I-95. Our trips begin at 6:30 am and go till 12:30. The Rate of $500 is all inclusive. Up to 4 guests, Boat, Tackle, Equipment, Bait, Snacks and Water are all provided. (The exception to 4 guests is fly fishermen which is limited to 2).
